We are at it again. After the huge success of last year’s fundraiser for children’s charity Great Ormond Street Hospital, we are very pleased to announce our Winter Workshop is now cranking into action, with new elves and a new target – £1,500 – enough to cover the cost of a portable heart monitor. Smiles all round, please.
Across the land, individual wooden boxes have been sent to artists, creatives and paint brush professionals to turn their plain crates into beautiful boxes. Inspired by our Advent Calander auction last year, which raised nearly £1,000 for Oxfam, each box will be individually auctioned off on eBay – with all funds heading straight to G.O.S.H. What better way to give something special to a loved one this Christmas than a box decorated by a renowned artist? With the added brownie points of the money heading straight to charity? It’s a good feeling, we promise.
Our Advent Calander last year inspired a serious range of creativity. Award winning blogger, Rachel Southern from the Ordinary Lovely crafted three gorgeous stars. She painted her box with dashes of periwinkle and navy paint set against gold, beige and white paint strokes. Inside the box you discover even more – a Christmas bunny and poem.
ParcelHero and Great Ormond Street Hospital have developed a close relationship. Last year, we raised a little over £500 with ParcelHero’s #Mumblesale jumble sale. Mothers and manufacturers from around the world donated children’s toys and items to be bid on by mums, eager aunties and diligent dads looking to spoil the kiddies. The likes of Playmobil, Amaia Kid, The Book People, Bugaboo, GAP Kids, Honest Mum, Igloo kids, Loud Apparel, Mattel, VTech and Wee Ride UK all donated to the cause. We won’t lie, we did play with some of the toys in the office.
But this year our target is more ambitious than ever and for really a good reason. Once we hit that target of £1,500, Great Ormond Street Hospital can then purchase a portable heart monitor. One of these brilliant tools enables doctors to monitor the heartbeat of their little patient from anywhere in the hospital – allowing for the standard of care for the patient to be risen. With your help, we hope to smash this target and change some little person’s life for the better.
Don’t fancy bidding but still want to get involved?
It’s a brilliant project that deserves some love, so here is a special plan to get you enthused. Every social share, email invite and positive comment will gain you entry straight into our hearts. Thre more people this reaches, the more money we will raise and the better the care the kids at London’s G.O.S.H will receive. So let us know if you helped spread the love and there may be a little present in it for you (more details to come). Just let us know on both our Facebook and Twitter posts.
