Now Amazon delivers cars

Amazon Prime Members can now get a car delivered straight to their front door. Amazon has teamed up with South Korean car maker Hyundai to have test drive cars delivered on demand to Prime subscriber’s homes.

There’s just one catch for Amazon.co.uk Prime Members however: the promotion is only currently available in Los Angeles.

The Amazon Prime Now-Drive Now campaign will last just two weeks and means Amazon customers can take a hour-long test drive of the Hyundai Elantra without ever having to go to a showroom.

Trained drivers will supervise the test drives; but consumers who do decide to buy the cars will need to visit their local dealer. The offer points the way to the future for Amazon: carmakers are looking for new ways to connect to younger customers who don’t want the hassle of going to a showroom to test out a car. In the future other large items could also be delivered directly to the shoppers to for a trial in this way.

Amazon’s Prime Now service is currently being rolled out across the UK; and delivers a huge range of items in a one-hour time window. Though sadly not yet cars here in Britain.
