Clearing Icelandic customs

Despite their close relationship with the European Union, Iceland is not a member state. That means that every package that enters the country will be inspected and have duties and taxes applied while clearing customs. However, parcels that are worth less than 2,000 Swedish Krone will not have to pay duties or fees, and this is also true of gift shipments worth less than 10,000 Krone. As always, ParcelHero takes care of the paperwork, so there’s no need to worry about that.

Are there rules about what you can send to Iceland?

Iceland and the EU might have a close relationship, but that doesn’t mean that you can ship anything you like. There are rules about what you are allowed to import into Iceland, many of which are similar to ParcelHero’s own rules about Prohibited and Restricted items. To find out more and see a Icelandic specific list, visit Iceland’s customs website.

Can I send antiques from Iceland to the UK?

How do I address a Parcel to Iceland?

It may be simple to send your package off to Iceland, but finding its final destination can be tricky. To make things as easy as possible for our partner couriers, it’s vital that you get the address on the parcel as accurate as possible. A normal Iceland address includes:

  • John Smith [The name of the recipient]
  • Borgartun 34 [street address]
  • 105 [postal code]
  • REYKJAVÍK [locality]

Icelandic Postal codes are made up of three digits. There are a total of 149 postal codes, which specify regions of Iceland. You can include an optional prefix of “IS” for the postal code when shipping from outside of Iceland.
