Clearing customs in Kazakhstan

As you are not sending your package within the EU it will need to clear customs and to do this must be accompanied by a customs invoice. This will be generated for you by ParcelHero - you just need to print it out at the end of the process and fix it to the packaging before the parcel is picked up. Duties and taxes are charged on most goods imported into Kazakhstan. Unfortunately ParcelHero cannot include these in our shipping quote, because any applicable charges are calculated and collected by the location customs authorities, they will instead be billed to your recipient.

What are Kazakhstan's customs rules?

Kazakhstan customs authorities have rules on the kinds of items that can be sent into the country and you should be aware of these before you send your package. If you try to send anything that is restricted or prohibited then you may find that your package is delayed or destroyed. Among a number of prohibited items, you cannot send anything made from graphite into the country. There is also a prohibition on political materials so it is best to avoid using newspaper in your packaging. For more information take a look at the Kazakhstan customs authorities website. ParcelHero also has our own rules about Prohibited and Restricted items.

Despite the large size of Kazakhstan, it is sparsely populated. However, it is a simple country in which to do business, with the Kazakhstan government making a large effort to encourage more business in the country. Some popular UK exports to Kazakhstan include:

  • oil and gas
  • mining equipment

How do I address a Parcel to Kazakhstan?

Shipping a parcel internationally is a difficult process, but making sure the address is right makes it significantly simpler for our partner couriers. An address in Kazakhstan generally includes:

  • Mr John Smith [Name]
  • ulica Mira, dom 14, kvartira 6 [street name, building no. and apartment no.]
  • Kaskelen, Karasai raion [locality and district name]
  • ALMATY oblast [province name]
  • KAZAKHSTAN [Country]
  • 040900 [Postcode]

A Kazakhstan postal code is made up of six digits. The first two digits dictate the regional centre, while the next two indicate the destination district. The final two digits are the postal centre the destination is in.
