How do I clear Zimbabwe’s Customs?

When you send a parcel to Zimbabwe, your package has to clear customs before we can deliver it. Because only parcels worth less than 10 US Dollars are exempt from paying duty fees and taxes, your parcel will likely have fees levied on it during the process. In Zimbabwe, VAT is currently set at 15%. That means that your fees will be, at a minimum, 15% of the value of the goods that you are sending to Zimbabwe.

Are there rules about what I can send to Zimbabwe?

Like any other country, there are rules about what Zimbabwean customs allow into the country – and because every parcel that enters the country has to clear customs, they are strictly enforced. For the most part, these are in line with the goods that ParcelHero cannot carry, but restrictions also include some more specific goods like:

  • Expired medicines
  • Harmful substances which include skin lightening creams, soaps and lotions

For more information on what you can and can’t send to Zimbabwe, check out ParcelHero’s Restricted Items list and Zimbabwe’s Prohibited goods.

Can I import food from Zimbabwe to the UK?

Can I ship heavy or large items to Zimbabwe?

Not only can you ship large goods to Zimbabwe, but ParcelHero works with the world’s leading large freight couriers to ensure you get a great price. That means that no matter the size of your package, you get globe leading service without having to pay a heavy price.

Can I send personal effects to Zimbabwe?

You can send personal effects with ParcelHero, both to and from Zimbabwe. Be sure to fill in your customs paperwork correctly however, as simply entering “Personal Goods” will not be sufficient to clear customs.

Doing business in Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe is one of the most difficult countries in the world in which to do business. According to the World Bank, it is ranked 190 in the Ease of Doing Business Index, below regional competitors like Botswana and Namibia. However, it is simple and affordable to establish a business in Zimbabwe, and in metrics like registering a property, getting electricity and dealing with construction permits, is improving year on year.

Bear in mind though, that you may have to pay duties and taxes on every parcel that enters the country. This could make it difficult to sustain a business and – because the recipient must pay the fees – impossible not to have a physical location without passing on extra costs to your customers.

How do I address a Parcel to Zimbabwe?

When it comes to making sure a package safely crosses oceans and finds its destination, the address is vital. When addressing a parcel to Zimbabwe, you should include:

  • John Smith [The name of the recipient]
  • 1 Burnett Way [Street name + building number]
  • Harare [The name of the destination city]
  • ZIMBABWE [Country name]

Because Zimbabwe is a small country, they don’t make use of postal codes – unlike the UK. That means that all you need when addressing your delivery is the name of the street and city.
