If you're sending to France from within the European Union, your shipment will not be subject to customs clearance and will not incur any additional charges, even if you're shipping commercial goods. As goods in the EU are in free circulation, they will not need a customs invoice to be submitted.
However, if you're sending from outside the EU, then you will need to provide a customs invoice (which ParcelHero will produce for you) and your goods may be subject to clearance delays and French customs authorities may apply import duties and taxes to your goods upon import, which are charges levied by the local government not the courier.
The VAT rate for importing goods into France is 20%, however, certain products incur lower charges.
If your sending gifts, personal affects or business samples under the value of €150, then your shipment will likely not incur any additional charges. We always recommend checking with French customs prior to shipping.
France has its own import rules and regulations and it is good practise to check any restrictions directly with the French customs authorities, before you send your parcel.

Shipping a parcel to Marseille, Lyon or any other area of France is not a simple as sending a package within the UK. When sending an international parcel delivery, your parcel will be handled more times and will be exposed to different conditions on route. It's therefore really important that you package your parcel safely for international transportation. As a minimum, we recommend using a double lined box, wrapping each item individually and always filling the box with packaging material so the goods inside cannot move around.
