Shipping restrictions and customs clearance

If you are sending from the UK or other countries outside the EU, then you will need to produce a shipping invoice for Customs, and your goods may be subject to additional customs charges. Parcelhero will automatically produce the shipping invoice for you when you book your shipment online.

There is no Customs clearance if you're sending a parcel to Ireland from inside the EU, and your goods will not be subject to import duty or VAT.

Rates of duty and import tax:

Gifts with a customs value under €45 are not subject to customs duty or VAT. However, you must declare that the goods are a gift on the customs documentation.
Items valued at under €150 are not subject to any customs duty
Items under a value of €22 are also not subject to VAT
Ireland's VAT rate is currently 23%

Packaging your parcel

When sending a parcel to Ireland, it's important that you ensure your items are sufficiently protected and packaged for transportation. Whether you choose an economy road service, or an express air service, your package will be handled multiple times and it will be subject to vibrations during transportation. Follow these simple steps to ensure safe delivery:

1. Select a box:

Use a strong double lined box (we recommend using a new box rather than a re-used one)

2. Protecting your goods:

Wrap each item individually in several layers of bubble wrap.
Make sure each item is fully suspended inside the box, and not touching the walls of the box, by filling the box with packaging material such as polystyrene peanuts prior to placing the items inside the box.

3. Securing your package:

Use packaging tape to seal the box.
The more tape you use, the more protection is offered.
Pay special attention to flaps and corners.
